Autumn, it’s my favorite time of year. I love the crispness to the air, the colorful leaves and just around the corner, it will soon be Christmas!! And this year, most stores didn’t have their Holiday displays set up in mid-September. I find it very annoying when the Holiday season is front and center to us sooo far in advance, it’s like hurrying life along. I have found that during these past months, it’s important to savor each experience, each day, all of it.
There is an important exception to starting Christmas gifts earlier than later – if giving a handmade gift, it is quite necessary to start early. I’m certain I am NOT the only one who has been up late Christmas Eve or extra early Christmas morning to finish that special gift. So let’s get started now and enjoy Christmas when it comes.
Our 1st Assignment in Countdown to Christmas – SHOP YOUR STASH!
Go to your stash and pull out all the Christmas fabric from past years. You loved these fabrics when you bought them, it’s time to show them some love. Put together a couple of piles – one focus fabric and 3 or 4 complimentary fabrics. Maybe pull out some prints and colors or a panel that the folks on your list would like. You’ll also want to gather your supply of ribbons, flosses, buttons, magnets. Have these set aside so when you see the projects I’m sharing with you, you’ll have what you need to get started. And by all means, remember to visit your local quilt shop for some of the newest beauties.
Some of the categories I have projects for are quilters, stitchers, crafters, artists, women/men/children, the young ones to the not-so-young ones, cat lovers, dog lovers, birdwatchers, gardeners, cooks (inside & out), car owners, home decorators, outside decorators, sports fans, etc. And most importantly, there will be projects for you, just you, so that you may enjoy the Holiday experiences.
